Headteacher's Welcome
On behalf of the staff, governors, and children of Sauncey Wood Primary School, I am very proud to welcome you to our school. We might be a small school but we have an enormous heart!
From the moment I first stepped into our school, I was moved by the warmth, compassion, and genuine care radiating from every classroom. That spirit of love and attentiveness continues to be the foundation of everything we do and we continue building on those values to make Sauncey Wood the best school that we can be.
Of course, academic excellence is a priority (please click here to see our latest performance data), but we believe that true success goes far beyond test scores. Our children deserve an education that prepares them not just for exams, but to be successful in today’s world. Research shows how emotional intelligence, self confidence and regulation are the most important indicators of our children living successful lives once they leave school. We we have designed our curriculum to develop the skills and attributes that will equip our children to lead happy, successful and healthy lives in today’s ever changing world. That’s why our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to foster emotional intelligence, resilience, and self-awareness — the very qualities that help children thrive in an ever-changing world. (You can read more about how research has shaped our curriculum here.)
Our school motto — Be curious, be kind, be your best, be you! — is more than just words (please click here to read what this means for our children). It’s a promise to our children: that we will support them to reach their full potential while celebrating their individuality. We want every child to feel proud of who they are and confident in who they’re becoming.
As a small school, all staff have the privilege of knowing each child well. This allows us to tailor our teaching and support to meet their individual needs, ensuring they recieve the very best education - one that is as compassionate as it is ambitious .
If you are considering enrolling your child at our school, please do feel free to make an appointment with me - I would be delighted to show you around personally. Similarly, should you ever wish to discuss any aspect of the school with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch or come and speak to me or any member of staff on the playground in the morning.Warmest wishes,
Jamie Brewis
