Year 4 is taught by Miss Flint and the teaching assistant is Miss Fox.
In Year 4 is an exciting year at Sauncey Wood as the children work towards their residential trip in the summer term! We continue to encourage the skills of independence and practise skills of teamwork and perseverance throughout the year.
In Year 4 we develop the skills of mastery in maths. Children will explore and revise the concepts taught and deepen their understanding of maths. This will help them to become excellent problem solvers! The children will take the Multiplication Check at the end pf the year and so, times tables will be a focus in Year 4. Daily practice in school and at home will help children learn all their tables up to 12 x 12 which, in turn, will help their transition to Upper Key Stage 2.
In Literacy, we read inspiring and engaging books that will promote a love of reading and will support fantastic writing! Teachers will guide children through a different range of writing genres such as poetry, non-chronological reports and biographies. Spelling rules will be taught and children will learn how to apply these rules when they are writing. Editing skills will be developed from year 3.
