Geography

Our curriculum inspires pupils to learn more about the world we live in and the people and cultures that surround us. Our curriculum is sequential and cyclical to allow children to revisit knowledge and learning as they move through the school. To be a fantastic geographer children must have an understanding of:

  • Locational knowledge, for example, being able to name and locate the world’s seven continents

  • Place knowledge- understanding geographical similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography of different areas

  • Geographical skills and fieldwork- using world maps, atlases and globes to locate continents, countries and oceans

  • Using simple compass directions, locational and directional language

We plan trips that bring topics to life for the children such as visits to Hertfordshire Zoo to learn about the Rainforest and local trips that help us learn about the Geography of our local area!
