Welcome to 4 Maple, where our children are curious learners with a thirst for knowledge and simply love coming to school!

This term, we will be:

English - Recapping and securing punctuation, grammar and our guided reading skills. Reading and writing a variety of different text types, inspired by books such as, 'How to train your dragon' by Cressida Cowell and 'The Lost Thing' by Shaun Tan.

Maths - Learning about perimeter, converting measurements, calculating fractions and decimals of shapes and amounts.

Science - Identifying how sounds are made and investigating how to change volume and pitch. 

History - Learning about life during Viking times and how they came to settle in the UK. 

 

Art - Investigate and develop monoprint designs on fabric, inspired by the work of Michael Brennan-Wood.

Music - Composing and producing simple pieces on the glockenspiel.

PE - Learning how to play basketball and perform a dance.

French - Ordering food at the café.

RE - Thinking about the meaning of 'Good and evil'. 

Personal Development - Considering our dreams, goals and how we handle it when these things do not happen.

Computing - Investigating computing hard wear.

What do I need at school?​

  • Water bottle

  • A healthy snack for break times - no nuts - please refer to our Healthy Schools policy for guidance.

  • Reading books and reading logs -  to be brought in everyday.

  • A pencil case with a handwriting pen, pencil, ruler and rubber.

  • Coats - we will be going outside in all weathers so bring a coat every day.

  • PE Kit – A fully named PE kit should be at school every week. All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons.

  • Home learning books to be sent in every Monday.

  • A hat in hot weather.

  • Old shirt or painting apron – for painting and craft.

  • Library books.
