Volunteering

Volunteering in schools is tremendously rewarding and can provide you with useful, transferable skills to help you in your own learning and development.

We are always on the look out for willing volunteers to listen to our pupils read, to support the fundraising activities run by the Friends of Sauncey Wood, to join our Governing Body or to come and talk to our classes about your job or experiences where they ties in with their learning.

If you can commit to half an hour, one hour, once a week, then we'll allocate you to class so that you can build up the trust and confidence of the children. If you can spare an hour every now and then we'll put you where the need is greatest at that point in time.

When you decide to become a volunteer at the school: do come and talk to our office team about how you'd like to help. Once we've found the right activity for you:

  • we'll ask you to read and sign our volunteer's handbook

  • we'll ask you to come to a 30 minute safeguarding training session

  • we'll ask you to sign a childcare disqualification form

  • we'll take up two references

  • we'll acquire a DBS check for you

Do get in touch through the school office if you would like to find out more.
