Resources Committee Meeting 5th May 2016
The meeting was attended by Rachel Angus (Chair), Steve Lloyd, Helen Parkinson, Helen Fitzakerley, Linda Williams and Bridgett Pymm. The committee discussed the recent Health & Safety audit carried out by Herts County Council and the actions recommended as a result of that visit. A small working party has been established to address matters arising from the report that we received following the audit.
Governors also discussed the results of a recent financial benchmarking exercise that illustrates how the school spends the budget and what that spend looks like compared to other similar schools. Broadly, we are in line with other schools of a similar size and make up (number of pupils receiving free school meals, with English as an Additional Language, with a Special Educational Need, etc). Interestingly, OFSTED recently highlighted that as an average, outstanding schools spend approximately 1% of their annual budget on Continuing Professional Development for staff - this exercise showed that our school spent 1.06% on this item in the year 2014-15.
Several policies were ratified and ideas for further improving links between the school, the governing body and parents were discussed. As a result, from September, we aim to introduce parent forums where each term, an item will be selected for discussion and parents invited to come into school to talk about these areas.
