Sauncey Wood’s Little Libraries were officially opened today by the Angus family who kindly donated the funds to have 2 of our very own Little Libraries built by a local carpenter. Our Little Libraries are a creative idea that aims to promote literacy and bring our school and local community together through their shared love of books. Keeping our children safe is everybody's responsibility and this includes e-safety. In an ever-changing world, the guidance changes all the time so please try and keep your knowledge current. We all know that enjoying reading directly impacts on a love of writing so this term we are introducing a new buddy reading scheme. Some of our year 5 children will be giving up their time to support some of our younger children in developing a love of reading across the Spring term- thus being Reading Role Models. If successful, this idea will continue and we will need even more role models to buddy up! Please share your own love of reading with our current Reading Role M
The girls have been in action and are playing super well. They have been giving it their all and coming off the pitch exhausted! This morning, some members of year 5 gave up their time to help Miss Harkness deliver our Harvest hampers which we created with all the lovely food items that you all so kindly donated. So, we are 2 rounds into this year's Girls football League. Our squad are doing us proud and learning from every match. We have so far played 6 games, lost 4, drawn 1 and won 1. The girls are finding their feet as a team and showing all of our learning powers to develop their confidence and playing ability. We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a new football kit by Premier League Primary Stars. Some members of our football squad took great pride in modelling the kit today and the Girl's football team are the first team to play in it in their matches this afternoon. The generous award consists of 15 full kits including socks and are very smart in our school colours! The smiles on their faces say it all!
Today, Mr Holmes got us up and moving due to it being National Fitness day. We were all (including staff) set challenges throughout the day with activities displayed across the school for us to complete. The afternoon was spent outside taking part in classes to compete a range of fitness activities that really got out hearts pumping. The afternoon finished with a massive dance off between all the children. A great day and good fun had by all!
Sunday the 15th of July was not only the Men's Wimbledon final and the final of the World Cup- it was also our first (and hopefully annual) colour run. Last night was the final night of our year 6 production and what a night it was! The children were AMAZING! The show was INCREDIBLE! We are so proud of all the children and staff who have worked so hard to put together this year's production of Aladdin Trouble. From the acting to the singing to the witty one liners and comic timing, everything was truly fabulous! Thank you to everyone involved- you are all superstars!

Yesterday, despite the ever changing weather, the Harpenden Sports Association year 3 and 4 Football tournament was played Sauncey Wood. This week ended with a huge celebration for our 67th birthday.
